About the Learnership

Rand Water is inviting unemployed South African youth, including five candidates with disabilities, to apply for their Supply Chain Practitioner Learnership Programme.

This 18-month learnership will equip you with the skills, knowledge, and workplace experience needed to work as a Procurement Officer. You’ll learn how to coordinate and manage the procurement of goods and services, handle supplier contracts, and monitor supply chain performance.

Minimum Requirements

To apply, you must:

  • Be unemployed and not enrolled in any other learnership or qualification
  • Have a Matric (Grade 12) with:
    • Mathematical Literacy (minimum Level 4)
    • English (minimum Level 4)
  • Not hold any post-matric qualification (applicants who do will be disqualified)
  • Be a South African citizen with a valid SA ID
  • Be aged 18 to 35 years
  • Provide a SAQA/NLRD verification report (available from the SAQA website)
  • Live near Rand Water’s Rietvlei site or the surrounding areas

Additional Requirements for Applicants with Disabilities

  • Must include proof of disability (doctor’s certificate or ITRDD13 form signed by a medical doctor)
  • Deaf or hard-of-hearing applicants must be able to provide their own interpreter during the learnership

Required Documents

Key Responsibilities During the Learnership

  • Attend all classes and complete assignments
  • Participate in class discussions and practical training
  • Write assessments and maintain a logbook of activities
  • Develop and maintain procurement schedules
  • Manage supplier relationships and monitor performance
