About the Learnership
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is offering Dispensary Support Learnerships for 2025. This programme is a great opportunity for young people who want to build a career in the pharmaceutical industry.
The main purpose of this learnership is to train and employ learners who will complete the Basic Pharmacist Assistant Course.
Learners will gain skills and experience in dispensing medication, pharmaceutical principles, stock control, and patient support. Once learners are registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) and successfully complete the course, they may be considered for permanent employment as a Basic Pharmacist Assistant.
What You Will Learn and Do
During the learnership, learners will:
- Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 medicines.
- Learn to prepare, compound, and dispense non-sterile medicines.
- Help with stock unpacking, merchandising, and cleaning in the dispensary.
- Interpret prescriptions accurately and responsibly.
- Learn to pick, pack, label, and check medication.
- Work with a pharmacist to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, and storage of medicines.
- Assist with patient support calls and prescription tracking.
- Handle medical scheme authorizations for chronic, HIV, oncology, and other treatments.
- Promote health by providing basic information to customers.
Requirements
To apply for the Dis-Chem Dispensary Support Learnership, you must have:
- Grade 12 / Matric with Pure Mathematics.
- Physical Science or Life Science as a subject.
- At least a 50% average pass rate.
Skills Needed
