Garlicke & Bousfield Inc., a respected law firm based in Umhlanga, is calling on unemployed youth to apply for the 2026 Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme. This 12-month programme gives young South Africans the chance to gain valuable workplace experience and develop skills that improve their future employability.
About the Programme
The YES initiative is a national drive to fight youth unemployment by creating fixed-term work opportunities for young people aged 18 to 35. At Garlicke & Bousfield, participants will be placed across different departments, gaining real-world exposure in a professional environment.
Please note: This opportunity is not suitable for individuals looking to become Candidate Attorneys or those currently in their 3rd or 4th year of LLB studies.
Programme Details
- Start Date: January 2026
- Duration: 12 months
- Stipend: Paid in line with the national minimum wage and YES guidelines

- Messenger (valid Code 8 driver’s licence required)
Who Can Apply?
To qualify, you must:
- Be currently unemployed
- Not have participated in a YES Programme before
- Live in or around Durban and be able to travel to Umhlanga daily
- Be between the ages of 18 and 35 (turning 36 in 2026 disqualifies you)
- Hold a Matric certificate
- Be willing to undergo police clearance and credit checks
