About the Learnership
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is inviting applications for its Dispensary Support Learnership Programme. This programme is aimed at individuals who want to pursue a career in pharmacy and become qualified Basic Pharmacist Assistants.
Successful learners will receive structured on-the-job training combined with formal learning. The learnership is offered on a fixed-term contract, with the possibility of permanent employment after successful completion and registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
Key Responsibilities
Learners will receive training and exposure in the following areas:
- Selling Schedule 1 medicines under the supervision of a pharmacist
- Assisting with the preparation of non-sterile medicines
- Receiving, unpacking, and merchandising dispensary stock
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation in the dispensary
- Interpreting prescriptions under supervision
- Picking, packing, labelling, and checking medication
- Monitoring stock levels and expiry dates
- Providing basic health advice to patients
- Performing administrative tasks within the dispensary
- Delivering professional and responsible customer service
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate
- Mathematics and Physical Science or Life Science
- Minimum average of 50%
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to communicate in English and at least one other language
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure
- Basic computer and numerical skills
- Honest, reliable, and professional behaviour
- Willingness to learn and work in a team environment
