Programme Overview
Clover, in partnership with the YES (Youth Employment Service) Programme, is offering unemployed youth the opportunity to gain practical work experience as Merchandisers within its Sales department.
This 12-month learnership is designed to equip participants with real-world workplace exposure, retail experience, and essential employability skills. Successful applicants will be placed at Clover branches in Clayville (Gauteng), Cape Town (CDC), Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth, and Queensburgh.
Key Responsibilities
Learners will be exposed to day-to-day merchandising duties, including:
- Managing shelf layouts according to store and shelf plans
- Packing shelves based on store flow and merchandising standards
- Ensuring fridges are clean and correctly maintained
- Maintaining correct shelf sets and product labels
- Placing and maintaining point-of-sale material
- Managing basic administration tasks
- Ordering and controlling stock levels
- Preventing out-of-stock situations and reporting issues promptly
- Handling returns according to store procedures
- Ensuring products are always clean, neat, and correctly displayed
- Managing crates and equipment according to company policy
- Building and maintaining positive working relationships with store staff, management, and fellow merchandisers
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent (NQF Level 4)
- Fluent in Business English
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
