Opportunity Overview:
The City of Johannesburg is inviting youth residents who have never participated in an internship programme (related to their field of study) to apply for the Social Development Internship Programme. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable work experience within a government environment and build a career in administration, engineering, or project management.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
- Diploma (NQF Level 6) in a Built Environment discipline:
- Quantity Surveying
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Building
- Project Management Certificate or Degree in Administration/Management
- Computer literacy (MS Office, Outlook, Internet)
- Must be a resident of the City of Johannesburg
- Understanding of local government policies and procedures is advantageous
Competencies and Skills Required:
- Excellent communication (verbal and written)
- Analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Time management and planning
- Ability to work in a team and independently
- Knowledge of COJ policies, ethics, Batho Pele principles, and municipal legislation
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development and communication of business plans within the Facilities Management Unit
- Execute duties with professionalism, confidentiality, and accountability
- Assist with customer service and administrative tasks in line with municipal objectives
